Synopsis
In 1973, college student Devin Jones takes a summer job at Joyland after a painful breakup. He learns the language and routines of the amusement park, forms close friendships with fellow employees, and hears about a young woman murdered in the park's haunted-house attraction. As Devin investigates the cold case, he also befriends a seriously ill boy and his protective mother. The novel combines mystery, coming-of-age drama, and supernatural unease while focusing on grief, loyalty, and the lasting effect of one transformative summer.
